Widden Stud has been at the forefront of acquiring some of the country’s most promising stallions in recent years and has the unique ability of ensuring their young stallions are highly successful from the outset of their stud career. This tried and tested recipe is readily visible with their striking young stallion Zousain, a son of the champion sire Zoustar, who has been hugely popular since commencing stud duties in the spring of 2020.
Double R Thoroughbreds has been a strong supporter of Zousain in his early years, with a lovely filly from Hollaback Girl already on the ground as part of his first crop and two more foals expected from Profiterole and Cailini this spring in his second crop. Double R Group directors Scott and Ken paid a visit to the stud last month for a first-hand look at their breeding stock and Widden’s impressive stallion roster, including Zousain. They came away amazed by the care and attention to detail provided at Widden, and couldn’t be happier with the partnership they are forming with one of Australia’s most respected thoroughbred breeders.
“We know our horses are in great hands at Widden and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the stud as the Double R Thoroughbred family continues to grow,” Mr Rossow said.
“It’s easy to see how the horses living at Widden receive a head start in life, reaping the benefits of being raised on superb pasture, provided with the expert assistance of an agronomist and combined with round the clock care from their resident veterinarian.”
